Polishing And Waxing

Polishing of the sculpture involves heating the piece to a desired temperature depending on the type of the stone.
The heating allows the opening of the stone pores.
Once heated ,wax is applied with clean clothes onto the stone.
The wax will penetrate into the stone through the heated stone pores.
The wax helps to bring out the true colour of the stone, exposing the beautiful shades in the sculpture.
Once cooled down, the artist uses a clean soft cloth to polish the wax on the sculpture, giving it a nice shiny tactile finish.
The wax also helps in waterproofing the sculpture to prevent water or moisture from being absorbed by the stone.
